I am too old to fit-but not enjoy- this favorite teenage neighborhood hangout. This is Shibuya, a crazy, throbbing, pulsating maze of streets and back alleys filled with trendy clothing stores, expensive clothing boutiques, and cheap clothing stalls, both new and used. Wow, it is the young people that are pumping the Japanese economy! There are sidewalk cafes, giant street music videos, and crushing crowds. We visited this place not once, but three times in the past twelve days. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed all that I can stand. I have seen all the shaky stilettos, mini skirts and patterned tights that I care to see. | Where in the world is Julia Wiens and her mother? If you look very carefully at the photo below, you will find us standing under the McDonalds sign. We did NOT eat there! |
